The public is invited to attend the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera’s annual winter Open House on January 14, 2017. The Open House will be held at 44 Armory Street in Englewood, New Jersey. Street parking and a small parking lot is available on the side of the building. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on January 21 at the same time and location.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Open House will introduce principal artists, who will be featured in the Verismo Opera’s new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, performing arias and duets. The Verismo Opera staff and trustees will discuss opportunities to sing in the Verismo Opera Chorus, participate as supernumeraries (extras), and get involved in volunteer openings behind-the-scenes. Exhibits will be on display showing memorabilia, posters, and photos from Verismo Opera’s 28 years of producing grand operas, sponsoring an annual international vocal competition, presenting concerts, holding master classes, giving operalogues, and training the stars of tomorrow. A short film will be presented of the company’s previous production of Aida performed in 2011. The Verismo Opera Chorus will hold auditions at the end of the program.
The site is handicapped accessible. Street parking has designated handicapped parking spaces. The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera is committed to ensuring its programs and services are accessible to all.
Refreshments will be served at the Open House. For information, contact 201-886-0561.
