A tragic opera in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Libretto by Salvadore Cammarano loosely based upon Sir Walter Scott’s historical novel The Bride of Lammermoor.

A darkly romantic tale of family honor, betrayal and madness returns to Bergen PAC for the second time in a decade. As Lucia, Korean coloratura soprano Hea-Ran Kim is “a phenomenon that must be heard to be believed”(Bergen Record).Forced by her family to marry against her will, Lucia descends into madness. Her chilling, blood-spattered reappearance at the wedding reception has become one of the most iconic scenes in all opera. A tour-de-force of Italian Romantic opera at its most powerful and dramatic, Lucia di Lammermoor is the gleaming jewel in opera’s bel canto crown.
