The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera continues its 29th season in 2018 with the debut of Giacomo Puccini’s dramatic opera, Turandot. Artistic Director Lucine Amara announces Verismo Opera presents this grand opera on April 22 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) in Englewood, New Jersey.

Stage Director Evelyn La Quaif, a prominent vocal and master class teacher in the New York City region, directs the fully staged production. Under the baton of Principal Conductor Lucy Arner, the Verismo Opera Orchestra performs Giacomo Puccini’s most famous arias and duets. Chorus Director Michael Wittenburg joins the company again to lead the Verismo Opera Chorus.
Presented in three acts, Verismo Opera’s new production of Puccini’s last work features traditional staging and magnificent Sormani designed sets. The opera, completed by Franco Alfano, uses a libretto in Italian by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simon.
The entire cast appears in period costume. The opera is sung is Italian with English supertitles.
